The Magazine Reboot project is an example of the class’ knowledge and skill on InDesign. It focused on the use of a strong grid layout and creative ideas coming from a source material. The material this design is based on was a magazine article titled My Family Member Loaned Me $120,000 — and Things Got Messy by Elizabeth Gulino. The title of this article is only related to one of the stories featured and makes the entire piece seem more dramatic than it is. The design exemplifies this eye-catching title with the graphic. It resembles life falling apart from a loan gone wrong. The grid used in the piece was mainly to carry the imagery of a magazine article so there are nicely defined columns. This design uses the graphic and the title to capture a viewer’s attention and simple columns to keep their attention.
