World Heritage Site

The work presented is exemplifies the important and fascinating site of Babylon. Babylon is one of the most ancient found cities in the world, because of this the logo designs are literal graphic and geometric. This design both shows a prevelant feature of the ancient city, the Babylonian lion, and mimics the monumental stone architecture. The blue across the designs is derived from the Ishtar gate and ancient stories telling that the color blue was incredibly important to the Babylonian people. The blocks that the blue color is contained in is a reflection of the architecture in Babylon: monumental lithic blocks and large curved arches. The designs are meant to be simple, easily readable, and sleek. The use of hierarchy in the simple typefaces makes every bit of information readable for any audience. The use of balance with color and white space allows the viewer to have something pleasing to look at.

Logo Design

The final logo is designed after “the lion of Babylon.” This lion was a symbol of military power and state pride for the ancient Babylonians. There are a few symbols throughout Babylon, but the lion resembles the state as a whole.

Final Logo

Process Work

The blue throughout the system is derived from the Ishtar gate. This is a famous site from Babylon. This gate would have been the first thing an ancient person would have seen walking into Babylon. The blue was a color of pride and wealth of the state and would have been all over the ancient site.
